First of all, I would say to you from Emmanuel Giboulot its heartfelt thanks, the strongest. It was extremely moved by the impressive wave of support you have given him. There are still a moment, he reminded me that the important, it was not him personally but the realization that the petition has permitted. He now hopes that the mobilization will continue and give rise to a broader reflection that affects agriculture as a whole without stigmatizing a particular practice. And it is true that it is urgent to reform our agricultural system breathless. A recent study by Professor Gilles-Eric Seralini published 14 February 2014 [1], demonstrates that the registration system of toxic products used in agriculture (pesticides, herbicides, fungicides) is deprecated, even fraudulent, and that in fact these products are up to a thousand times more toxic than we could reasonably think so far. How are researchers arrived at this alarming conclusion ? In an interview with the program "Earth to earth" France Culture, Gille-Séralini explained in detail [2]. It states first that pesticides are composed of an active ingredient and additives. The active ingredient is the main molecule of the pesticide (or of a medicament). Adjuvants are added molecules to enhance the effect. This is often petroleum residues, gas, detergents or oxidized animal fats. If we take the example of the famous 'Round up', the active ingredient is glyphosate, deemed toxic only slightly. On the other hand, Compounding the final formulation is they very toxic. The approval depends on two types of controls : Long-term concern each active ingredient, others, for adjuvants, are short term. But approval is given if it is found that there is no long-term risk. So the potential risks associated with adjuvants are not considered. And so we authorized the Round up since 1975 ...

This is where the study conducted by Professor Séralini gets interesting : researchers selected 9 chemicals used extensively in agriculture. They collected small doses of pesticides and applied them on human cells. They then compared result between the application of the formulation (active ingredient + adjuvants) and only said active ingredient.

The result is instructive : the formulation is up 1000 times more toxic than the active substance ! There is a link between our chronic and our environment Now, scientists are increasingly likely to point the finger at the relationship between our environment and the diseases that we contract. Also according Gilles-Eric Séralini, the deadly impact of chemical molecules on our health is linked to the fact that they disrupt our internal communication systems. Our bodies are alive because 200 000 billions of cells that make up the enter they communicate with our two communication systems : one is electric, it is the nervous system, other chemical, are the hormones. Chemical molecules we ingest day long (hydrocarbons, plastic packaging, etc.) are fossil molecules, result of millions of years of plant transformation. Or plant, to ensure their reproduction, emit scents, Chemicals, all of which are hormones necessary for their survival. All products based on hydrocarbons we use are therefore concentrated hormones that disrupt and kill our bodies slow fire. Disruption of our communication systems that follows does not cause bacterial or viral diseases that medicine is used to treat, but rather a general decay of the body leading to chronic diseases that we know : reproductive problems, hormone-dependent diseases (thyroid), neurodegenerative diseases (Alzheimer), and cancers.

These concerns were confirmed in a study conducted in Sri Lanka in which researchers estimated that there was a probable link between the use of Roundup by farmers in the north, a favored agricultural area, and the occurrence of chronic liver disease [3]. The survey shows that glyphosate is particularly toxic when combined with the naturally mineral rich water (magnesium, calcium, strontium et fer) of the region. Since the massive use of the herbicide in the region, 15 % of the workforce has contracted the mysterious liver disease, soit 400 000 people, dont 20 000 died. The need for a citizen-against lobbying [4] While, For years, evidence of toxicity pesticides accumulate and that more and more citizens are skeptical about the benefits of industrial agriculture, there is no national or European political reaction. The latest discussions on the Common Agricultural Policy have done nothing to promote the development of organic agriculture remains generally absent from international negotiations on. Agriculture remains a speculation of land in the hands of a few powerful economic actors, dubbed by the States for years, such as Monsanto or Syngenta.

The problem, is that our health is in their hands and also our future. If our environment continues to deteriorate, we will have more children 50 years . Now we have all the solutions needed to feed the world while keeping the population healthy. We need to detoxify us, change agriculture and healthy eating.

Industrial agriculture and archaic methods are not inevitable. But for the authorities intend us, we must continue to put pressure on them and that's why I suggest you sign the petition launched by Bio-consum'actors association request a moratorium on the import of GMOs and Roundup.
